Its not something I ask my self everyday …but nevertheless … who is still weaving?
So happy with this internet find, I think it’s a real gem! Amy Revier does not tell very much about herself on her website. I gather there is a store in London where her work is for sale.
This is what she tells us about her work: “An archive of garments, built entirely by hand, one of a kind, to live with, to live in each coat the remnant of an act material turning into thread into textile into carved cocoon.”
What gorgeous clothing and fabric!

I personally know three weavers, and them some more on the web. Those three weavers in my town don’t do it for commercial sale, they do it for themselves and for the art. You need the space for a loom, and then you need the time, and the time to achieve the know-how. Thanks for introducing us to this artist, Marion!

That’s right, you weave too don’t you Dawn? This clothing must cost a fortune, can’t even begin to think how many hours go into one garment!

There is the time, the labor, and the cost of materials. A good wool that doesn’t itch is very expensive. It’s not worth thinking about polyester–if you invest a lot of time, know-how, and patience, you can’t think about using cheap materials. Linen, silk, a beautiful cotton–they are all so expensive. And then there are the hours, days, and weeks…it’s worth every penny if you can afford a garment like this. In a way, it’s like living sculpture.
