So therefore we would like to thank everyone for the interest in our jewelry, your compliments and support made us very happy. Also a big thank you for the loyal followers of this blog and of our jewelry on social media, such as FaceBook and Instagram.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

And as for Christmas … keep it simpel …

Yes it can be this simple …

A tip from me for a simple starter …

A blini is a tiny pancake that originally comes from Russia.

(8-10 pieces)

Blini batter

Mix 50 g buckwheat flour, ½ bag of yeast and 90 ml lukewarm milk. Let rise for 1 hour. Split 1 egg. Stir in the yolk, ½ tl of sugar, ½ tl of salt, 10 g of melted butter and 50 g of flour. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold in. Let rise for another ½ hour. Fry round blinis in a frying pan.

Prepare ± 30 min. / Wait ± 1½ hours

Even easier: Blinis are ready for sale at the supermarket.

  • Spoon of crème fraîche, tuft of herring caviar, chive
Slice of red-blue cheese, a piece of peach, black pepper and tarragon leaves
Slice of smoked chicken, thin slices of ginger, basil leaves and toasted sesame seeds
Spoon of ricotta mixed with some grated lemon, halved cherry tomato, basil leaves and balsamic syrup
Spoon of soft goat cheese, small broad beans, little savory and mint leaves
Pair of shrimps with red pepper from the wok, mango chutney and a bit of grated lime
Salad of chopped hard-boiled egg, mayonnaise, cottage cheese and watercress

And a vegetable dish.

Sautéed Sherry Brussels Sprouts with Caramelized Onions and Thyme

3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 medium yellow onion, diced
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2 packages Green Giant Sautés Bacon Brussels Sprouts
1 teaspoon sherry vinegar
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon flake sea salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the onions and stir to coat in the hot butter. Allow them to cook in the pan until very lightly golden and they start smelling a bit sweet, about 30 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Remove them from the pan and set them aside.

Add the olive oil to the pan and then add the frozen Brussels sprouts, taking care not to add the spice or bacon packets. Discard the spice packets, but set the bacon packets aside. Cover the pan and allow them to cook for 10 minutes.

Remove the cover and raise the heat to medium high. Add the sherry vinegar, brown sugar, sea salt, onion powder, and black pepper and stir to coat the Brussels sprouts in the mixture. Allow them to cook until they start turning a slightly olive shade of green, about 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Add the onions and the bacon bits to the pan and continue cooking until the onions are a deep rich gold and the Brussels sprouts are a deep olive green, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, toss with the fresh thyme, and serve.
