Once up on a time …
… a young man on a motorcycle came driving up our driveway. He entered the studio dressed in a heavy black motor suit and asked could he show us something. Although until then we were used to representatives in tailor made suits who drove flashy cars, we said to go ahead because we were curious what he had for sale. The young man emptied the pouch he wore on his belly and on the table fell hundreds of beautiful opals. He turned out to be a medical student who spend the summer working in an opal mine in Australia and had been paid in … yes … opals!
Since that time, we have an exceptional and large opal collection. Every year the student went back to the opal mine because he had fallen in love with the daughter of the owner of the mine. (I’m not making this up) Over the years we created a lot of jewelry with opal and our collection has shrunk …
Recently Jan made this ring with 2 beautiful opals. More info on this ring if you click here: gold ring with a pink and purple opal

These are the kind of real-life stories I LOVE. Wonderful, Marion–thank you for brightening the day!
And that’s a gorgeous ring.

Well, thanks for your compliment Dawn. By the way the student did mary the daughter of the owner of the goldmine, he is living in Australia.

Ja, hij is biologie gaan studeren en heeft nu een baan bij een iets wat met de natuur en de zee te maken heeft. Hij is getrouwd met de dochter van de baas van de opaalmijn!
