These earrings were inspired by a knot of wood picked up during a walk in the woods.

The shape of the knot became the earring : a hollow silver shape inlaid with walnut wood. Inlaying (precious) metals with wood is one of Jan Kerkstra’s specialties and he designed this earring. Long years of experience creating and selling jewelry with wood inlays tell us that the wood really does stay in place. The shape of this piece is interesting from all aspects.

It really is a ‘Sculpture to Wear’. De earrings might seem to be heavy, but this is not so because they are hollow. The almost architectonic shape of ‘Nuts’ is completely timeless.

The earrings are 26mm. long and 10mm. thick. The posts at the back of the earrings are made of 14-carat gold because gold is a stronger material than silver.
