One day I saw this beautiful photo of a slate wall on the internet and I knew: this picture will bcome a new design brooch!
Well ... inspiration is a strange thing. For me usually it does not work as straightforward as in this case, but now it didi because here is the brooch!
Beautiful cherry brooch with on top of the wood squares made from copper and sterling silver. The squares are fastened with tiny brass rivets. I do not know if you can see it in the photos but all the silver little squares pop up from below.
The cherry wood is partially finished with a sterling silver border or frame.
Probably the copper will oxidize in the future and will become in the long run a lot darker.
The brooch is from point to point 6.5 cm long. And from the upper point to the flat bottom is slightly higher than 5 cm. The brooch is 0.5 cm thick.
The brooch is pinned on the clothing with a system called safety pin. This pin is made of sterling silver. These are not the most convenient locks but they are the safest.
TIP: Usually I pin my brooch on my clothing before I pull the garment on.
We like you to know that we use recycled precious metals in our Atelier and the brooches are all made of little scraps and pieces of wood we saved over the years.
This brooch was designed by me but Jan, my partner has made the brooch
