Kazimir Malevich, Red cavalry riding. Click here for the explanation about this painting.
At the last minute Jan and I visited the exhibition of Kazimir Malevich at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
It was a lovely day, a little break from our busy lives. Because believe it or not we have seen quit some customers in our atelier lately.
The exhibition was wonderful, if you followed the route in the right way, which by the way was not an easy thing to do, you got to see very well how the work of Malevich developed over the years.
The painting above; Sportsmen by Malevich hangs in our hallway. Purchased years ago at Ikea. Although fake, it is much larger than the original painting.
I admit I’m a bit behind but we had not seen the new annex of the Stedelijk Museum. We came from the direction of the Rijksmuseum and then you see this. I don’t know if I find it beautiful or ugly, lets say it’s a strange but very impressive building. Inside I found the space small and oppressive. Photo via
Lastly, on our walk to the central station we drank, to warm up, a glass of port in Hotel Americain. (An old hotel in Art Nouveau style at the Leidseplein in Amsterdam.)
