I met Montserrat Lacomba about 5 years ago on the Internet. Since than I follow not only the beautiful jewelry she creates but also I am a fan of all her posts and interesting articles she writes about other jewelers. And a little while back we did a wonderful jewelry exchange! If you wish you can read more about that exchange over here.
Today I like to show you 3 pieces of Montserrat new series of brooches the “Impossible Landscapes”. They seem like petite abstract paintings, the colors she uses in her enamel work are vivid yet soft … I think these brooches are gorgeous!
Words and Landscapes (to Jacint Verdaguer, poet) Brooch, 5.5 x 9.5 x 1.5 cm.
Engraved and enameled copper.
Montserrat holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Barcelona and she has taught jewelry courses at Massana School also in Barcelona. She does not consider herself an artist but rather a passionate and curious person who needs to make things related to jewelry, photography and arts and crafts, as well as needing to communicate with others.
Worked Land Brooch 4 x 8 x 0,7 cm. Nickel silver and enameled copper.
It was in 2000 Montserrat dicoverd contemporary jewelry and it still continues to fascinate her. Her use of materials are mostly silver, copper, enamels, fabric and resin.
Montsenyserrat Mountain Brooch, 9 x 9 x 1.5 cm. Enameled and oxidized copper and silver.
In winter time Montserrat lives and works in Gerona, Catalonia and in the summer months she moves to Formentera, Balearic Islands (Spain) where you can find her at La Mola Artisanal Market selling her work.
Just in case you don’t like beautiful islands with lots of sunshine; you can also visit Montserrat’s online shop. Please like her on Facebook, see all of her work on Flickr and vist Montserrat’s site to get more information.
